ugh. i hate goodbyes.

Goodbye dinner tonight with Brit and Jason: add "guilt over abandoning pregnant best friend" to the list. I feel like the official "goodbye" bit was a bit stilted, but I've found that I cry much less when I make the painful parts quick! It's purely selfish in motivation, and I'm sure this discovery will come back to bite me in a BIG way, sometime in the near future.

So...here's a better goodbye. Thanks for dinner, you kids: even though we don't get to see each other as often as we should, I will truly miss both of you and I hope, Brit, that you will continue to allow me to call you Best Friend, even from a zillion miles away. Thank you for coming out to meet us for dinner on such a crummy evening, and for being my friend for so long. We'll see you in July.

final festivities

We're leaving on Wednesday. For serious. Naturally, I feel entirely unprepared, even though we've been getting ready for this move for months now.

Joy came up this weekend for a final, sisters-only playdate. (Of course, Grace's Scott was around, and was a terribly good sport: THANKS, SCOTT!  =) We all went out karaoke-ing last night and didn't get home until around 2:30...so feelin' a little rough today. But a fantastic time was had by all, and I hear there may   be some videos of our amazing performances knocking around on Grace's camera. These reports are unconfirmed, however, so don't get your hopes up.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again: it's kinda heartbreaking when your immediate family FINALLY all lives within driving distance of each other--not since 1997 has this been the case!--and you decide to up and leave the continent for colder, wetter, and generally drearier climes.  To make the guilt worse, Scott begins his first commute back to Los Alamos this week, so ALL of us are bailing out on Grace at the same time. Welcome to Denver, sis! Hope you like it here, 'cause it's all yours. I sincerely feel like the worst big sister ever, but I guess on the up side, everyone now has a free place to stay whenever they're in our neck of the woods. (Riiiiiiiiight. That makes up for it all!)

Stay tuned, folks: more uplifting accounts of our adventures to come...
